Patients and doctors are busier than ever before and both are leveraging technology to stay on track with deadlines, goals, and organization. One of the newer tools for use on both sides is telemedicine, a virtual, secure, video conversation platform that allows you to see your doctor from almost anywhere.  Usually requiring only an internet connection, a web cam, and PC or laptop, or even just a cell phone, telemedicine gives you more convenient access to providers who otherwise would have been out of reach - an important issue in states like Wyoming

Sleep Medicine and Telemedicine

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) recognizes that telemedicine represents the future of health care. In order to effectively reach people who are in rural areas, or just too busy to make it to their doctor, they  have created a telemedicine platform where patients can connect with sleep specialists.   AASM's  SleepTM is a robust system that allows patents to track their sleep patterns, request telemedicine appointments, send secure messages directly to their doctor, and much much more.  Get started by creating a free account to begin using the sleep diary and sleep tracking features and also patients can find a sleep provider and request a video visit

Does your bed partner constantly nudge you at night to stop snoring? Have you ever wondered if you have sleep apnea, but taking a trip to the doctor is out of the way? Telemedicine is as effective for sleep apnea care as visiting your doctor’s office.  A new study of 60 adults found that telemedicine is an effective option for sleep apnea diagnosis, care and followup.  Patient satisfaction was high and patients enjoyed the convenience of a live, video visit with a sleep doctor.  We can now bring you this new system that brings the expertise of sleep specialists to you.

The study involved 60 patients from outpatient centers who were at least 30 miles from the main medical center. Patients were chosen at random for a telemedicine or in office treatment plan.   The results show there were no significant differences in dropout rates, positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy adherence, or functional outcome changes between patients in each group of the study. Patients in the telemedicine group also expressed high satisfaction with their care. They especially liked the convenience of a live, video visit with a sleep doctor.  Seek a doctor’s advice if you have an ongoing sleep problem or are unable to sleep 7 hours or more per night.   Make your choice convenient by using telemedicine.

Every patient is unique and that is why we customize every one of our treatment plans exactly to fit your needs.  Whether it’s a small strategy or a comprehensive effort, we’ll sit down with you, listen to your requests, and prepare a customized plan based on what is in your best interest whether it be to first get Diagnosed, PAP Therapy, Oral Appliance Therapy or what is termed Combination Therapy.   Regardless of our recommendations you will remain in control of when or if to move forward with therapy.
